Scrabble
The group has been scrabbling for at least 13 years and in its infancy met alternately in each others homes and then as it grew we divided into two groups which met on different weekdays. However several years later the separate groups enlarged and it was then decided to amalgamate back into one group and to rent a venue which would accommodate everyone. We now meet at Church House Cheddar at 2.00pm prompt on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month.
About this time we had about 16 members but over the years the numbers have fluctuated for various reasons and one of oldest our members has now resigned and we miss her boundless knowledge of Scottish words which often secured a winning score.
From time to time we exchange visits from other neighbourhood Scrabble Clubs and we compete in friendly matches. This is always most pleasurable as tea, sandwiches and cakes are always provided.
We continue to grow in our knowledge of words and new members are always welcomed warmly, no matter what their level of the game happens to be.
